Books To Read During Quarantine

Books To Read While In Quarantine

Are you bored sitting at home in quarantine? Are your parents wishing school was in session? Or can you just not find any good shows to watch? So instead of annoying your parents or sitting on electronics all day, open a book and read it. Not sure what to read? Well, I’ve got you covered with books for every age group that would be good to read.

The first book  I highly request for anyone that’s ages 13+ is called The 5 Voices. First the book introduces the 5 different types of voices and you get to pick which voices you think is your strongest voice. Then in the different chapter it explains each voice more thoroughly. Throughout the book it gives examples of what it’s like  working with each voice in a group of people that has all the 5 voices. Overall, it’s a really great book to read because it helps the reader find their strongest voice and how to use it in a group properly.

After asking some family members for some more adult and teen reading recommendations, they told me some of their favorites, which include The House of Night fantasy series, in which four teenagers are selected to enter a four year period transformed into a vampire; The Caster Chronicles, which is about the “real world” and another side which is about witches who get claimed to be good or bad; and really any Stephen King book horror or not.

Are you being forced to spend hours entertaining your younger siblings with your mother getting on your case about screen time? For toddlers and younger children, there’s a variety of Dr.Seuss books parents can read to them with funny, made up words  these books will keep the little ones entertained for hours. And if the parents get bored of reading Dr. Seuss, there’s always The Bernstein Bears. These books are a great way for the little ones to learn some life lessons such as sharing is caring.

Since most  elementary kids read and don’t like little kids books, there are some really great beginner chapter books to read. My personal favorites include The Babysitter Club and a  number of books by Judy Blume. Yes these are easy reads, so that makes them the perfect books for kids just learning to read chapter books. Some words are small, which makes them easy to read; others are bigger and more difficult to read, which will make the kids turn on their brains in order to figure it out.

Then there are the older elementary kids and middle school students who are tired of reading the “little kid” chapter books and want something more challenging. This brings us to the young adult section. In this  section your kids can find a verity of book series like the 5 Kingdoms and my personal favorite, The Percy Jackson series. Both of these series keep the kids anxious to know what’s gonna happen next so they will want to continue to read.
