Freshmen and Seniors are vastly different in the type of mindset they have entering the new year in High School. Previously there was an article on the Senior mindset and now we have decided to do one on the difference in the Freshmen. Bianca Leiva and I have interviewed five Freshmen with different lifestyles, activities, and/or different subjects that they want to study and do right after High School. Zoey Camphouse, Jay Manzanarez, Cole Whitewell, Lacey Teske, and Madelyn Wilcox.
We asked each of them this question: Do you have any future college plans? If so, where would you like to go and what would you like to study?
Zoey Camphouse responded with, ”I don’t know what college. I don’t know if this is something you can study but I would like to help build an orphanage.” Just from this answer, you can see that Zoey has aspirations to help and grow the world now and after High School.
Next, we asked Jay Manzanarez. Jay responded with “I want to go to Arizona State because that’s where I was born. I want to become a NFL player but if that doesn’t work out then I want to get into the business.”
We then interviewed a fellow reporter Cole Whitewell, “I want to be a zoologist or anything with animals. I want to go to the University of Washington.” Cole enjoys the study of animals and often writes about them. We can clearly tell that he cares about the planet and welfare of the animals and will continue this going into college and after High School.
Lacey Teske, a player on the Freshman Girls Basketball team was our next interviewee. She answered with, “I would like to go to Carroll College up in Montana and I would like to become a nurse.”
Each of these freshmen are planning on Graduating from Skyline High School and they all have big plans for after High School and a certain subject they want to study in college.
We then asked them ‘Which of the four years will be the easiest for you, and which year will be the most difficult?’
Lacey was very optimistic about the rest of the four years and answered with, “I believe that all of the years will be the same.” At the moment Lacey is in Geometry and is one of the few Freshmen in her class. She is smart and always willing to help. High School is already coming easier for her and shows promise to continue.
Madelyn has an outlook that is quite close to Lacey’s. She is hoping to take harder classes and is looking forward to expanding her academics. She answered this same question by saying, “Academically, the easiest might be Freshman year since I’m not enrolled in any AP classes.”, and , “Junior year, because I will have hard classes without the excitement of the last year of High School.”
We finally asked “Where do you see yourself in 10 years?”
Jay answered with two answers with a very optimistic tone, “I hopefully see myself running a successful business or as a professional football player.”
Zoey mentioned earlier that she wanted to open an orphanage, she was very enthusiastic in helping homeless children and society. She answered this question in a few different ways, “In 10 years I will hopefully have a significant, and hopefully starting to open an orphanage and helping the children.”
“Probably in college and probably living with my parents still. Hopefully making a career out of what I have learned at college and gaining experience.” Cole answered in a more “realistic” sense but also in a hopeful tone and sense of pride.
These five Freshman have so many goals and hopes for their future. Based on their answers their combined outlook of the next four years in their High School career is pretty optimistic and very enthusiastic.
