Jocelyn Jones: On Being Almost Famous

Locally famous, but named Almost Famous: a teenage band with the potential and charisma for stardom. Country, rock, and a little bit of pop is the perfect way to describe the band’s unique sound.

For about the past year, Jocelyn Jones (11) has been one of the two lead singers of the band, along with Alexis Amrein.

In an interview, Jocelyn told me that she met the band when she saw them singing at a restaurant. Having some previous singing experience, and with their main singer Alexis sadly being sick, the band asked her to sing with them, and since then the band has been a match made in heaven.

Jocelyn said the band performs the third Wednesday of every month, with paid gigs in Idaho Falls, Pocatello, and sometimes Island Park.

For now, the band isn’t very focused on producing their own album, or going on tour. They’re more focused on local gigs and performances. In the interview, Jocelyn said, “I would love for it to be a career, but I don’t really see it happening, so I just do it for fun.”

Other than singing, Jocelyn’s other hobbies include reading, and improving her skills on the guitar.

For the future, Jocelyn hopes of going to college, but hasn’t decided yet on what she wants to study. While discussing her future plans she said: “I would like to make a career out of singing but that’s very hard to do”.
