What is your daily intake of the energy drink Monster? The average daily Monster intake is approximately two to three cans a day which is 16 ounces each! According to Skyline High School students, they drink about 1-2 Monsters a day. Skyline student Caleb Baird said, “I drink at least one Monster daily, maybe eight per month. Monsters aren’t good for you because they have a bunch of sugar, caffeine, and citric acid. The amount of those ingredients isn’t good for your body, it can cause dietary issues. I spend probably eight dollars each week on Monsters. The monster company can’t make a healthier type because the white Monster is the healthiest or just a normal zero sugar one.”
Others think differently such as Hunter Peyton who says,” I have at least three Monsters daily, They have lots of caffeine and help people stay focused. It does increase the chances of going into cardiac arrest or having heart issues. They also taste perfect, help people lift more weight, and can cost less if a good deal goes on. I think there could be a better way to control the amount of Monsters students drink. I may not know what it is yet but there definitely could be a better way to handle the amount of Monsters students drink.”
Monsters may taste good, but scientists say that they are not very healthy for us and describe how they can cause dietary issues, heart problems, and more issues with your body. A personal acquaintance had a heart attack after having a Monster energy drink, proving that they may cause serious issues. On the other hand, they help keep students awake after a restless night or even if they are still tired, which in the long run could help them in their classes simply because they are awake for the lessons. Skyline student and current reporter Kaden Horning says, “ I drink at least two or three Monsters daily because I need the energy and they are good. The downside of drinking so much might make it harder to breathe, I don’t agree we should be drinking them daily because of the risks we take with our health when drinking them but I will still drink them because I think they are good.“ This just helps prove that no matter what we THINK we should do we will still stick to our bad habits because that’s what we are used to
Monsters are not good for your body with the amount of sugar and caffeine that’s in them, according to the FDA Monster energy drinks have been cited in five deaths and one non-fatal heart attack. People may say they keep them awake but I’ve been drinking a monster as I wrote this. It kept me awake for a bit but then I had a sugar crash. Anytime you get a boost of energy whether it be from energy drinks or pure adrenaline the crash will always be worse so get energy through other beverages that would help with being healthy and give you that energy boost you need to get through the day.
