Taylor Swift is a beloved singer and songwriter worldwide but is mainly known in the Philippines, Malaysia, and Singapore. Her recent tour
The Eras Tour, which brought much attention to her music as well as the NFL, is coming to a ‘Swift’ close.
Throughout the tour, she has gained quite a large following. Her followers, also known as “Swifties” have caused many global outbreaks of both climate change and conspiracies. From The Eras Tour alone, the carbon emissions from Taylor and her ‘Swifties’ have already reached over 16,600,000 pounds. This is from her and her fans traveling all across the world, as well as all of the toxic chemicals that come from her concerts. Her recent flight from Tokyo, Japan to Las Vegas for the Super Bowl created 200,000 pounds of carbon emission.
Taylor Swift has many conspiracy theories that come with her name. These mostly revolve around the number 13, the year 1989, and the Super Bowl win and election. She has publicly announced that her favorite number is thirteen and her gang of Swifties has taken it to the extremes. For example, with the recent Super Bowl, they claimed the Chiefs would win because it was the 58th Super Bowl and 5+8 is 13. Another example is when the Chiefs played the 49ers and 4+9 is 13. Along with this at half-time, the Chiefs were winning with a score point of 13.
Taylor Swift brings joy to many people through her tour. Those who were able to enter the stadiums enjoyed it and had the time of their lives, but many were unable to receive tickets. When buying them for The Era’s Tour the only platform available is through Ticketmaster. Ticketmaster is an online platform that allows artists to monitor who gets into their concerts. Taylor Swift used a “Test” known as ‘Verified Fan Onsale’ or ‘Limited tour-sponsored opportunities’ for her shows. Once fans pass the “Test” to get into her concerts though, it is not a guarantee they will be able to get in. As her tour reached Brazil, fans became ecstatic to be able to see one of their most popular musical artists. Fans flocked to the stadiums even during a heat wave just to experience her in concert. This Brazilian heat wave and the overcrowding of what some may say was too many fans caused not only one but three of her beloved ‘Swifties’ to actually pass away. This devastated Taylor and she gave the family a handwritten note and her sincerest apologies.
Between Carbon emissions, the Super Bowl, tests to get into concerts, and fans losing their lives just to see her, is Taylor Swift worth the Hype? Many say yes, while the families of the lost loved ones, those affected by her conspiracies, and those not ‘Swiftie’ enough may say otherwise.
