Homecoming signifies welcoming back alumni to their alma mater for a football game, and multiple festivities. With Skyline’s homecoming finally arriving, this means the school will be looking forward to the activities, and the parade as well as the game. October 9-13 is the homecoming spirit week. Halloween isn’t too far away, and for a spooky twist, the theme this year is “All Things Halloween.” Each day will be a different type of theme, all tied with Halloween of course. For example, a day when students pull off their craziest hairstyles and hats, to dress up like a teacher. That Friday, Skyline held its parade as well as the game where Skyline took down Bonneville.
Skyline once again stole the spotlight with epic skills and the strong companionship of the team. Skyline maintained its lead throughout the game, winning 43-21. There had been a few times where Bonneville took the breath out of those on their side of the crowd, but still had failed to please their supporters. Skyline made it look easy and left us all in ‘aw’. Amani Morel, who took the lead again, helped to score those points the team won.
After a few quarters, the Royal Pairs were welcomed onto the field. Lord and Lady, Duke and Dutchess, Prince and Princess, and the King and Queen all stood in the middle of the field to get their moment of spotlight. Homecoming Royalty are the students who serve as role models for a school’s diverse student body. The selection process for the Royalty Pairs was to choose those who defined leadership, activities, academic achievement, and campus involvement.
Saturday, October 14th, was the Homecoming dance.
The Homecoming Dance is a big event that brings students together to show their support for their school and their community. The dance is to celebrate the victory everyone has made in their school life from the newbies to the graduates. Homecoming week is a time for students to have fun and create memories that will last for a lifetime. Homecoming is also important because it not only brings the alumni together but also the community. This year’s Homecoming was a success and a memorable experience.
