Skyline holds annual Southeast Idaho College Fair

Skyline High School held the annual Southeast Idaho College Fair on Oct. 18. For those wanting to continue their education after high school got the opportunity to inform themselves about different colleges and universities around Idaho. Boise State University, University of Idaho, College of Southern Idaho, Idaho State University, the College of Idaho and several more schools in and out of state were all present for this event. By attending the college fair, students and parents were able to talk to school representatives and learn about the different opportunities they offer at their school. “It’s a good opportunity for us to get some information on the colleges and hopefully help us get moving in the right direction for our future careers,” Tueller Jenkins (12) said.
Weber State University informed students about the new Raise Me scholarships where they give you 3000 thousands towards for tuition for applying. They also have 1000 dollar scholarships for every A maintained. The University of Utah and Utah State University were also present. Idaho State University had the whole old gym filled with their different programs and some of the programs had visual representations of what they actually did. Besides all the universities, there was also Austin Kade Academy and Vogue for those who are interested in cosmetology.
To be more informed on scholarship opportunities and college readiness, there is Linda Birkinbine who is the college and career ready advisor at Skyline. It is her second year here and her office is located in the library. Not only does she offer information on scholarships, but she is also there to help answer any question that needs to be answered. Birkinbine also has a whole wall full of pamphlets from different schools around Idaho in the library.
