What to Know: The now former FBI director James Comey was fired on May 9, 2017. Donald Trump’s reasoning was because of the way he handled the case of Hillary Clinton and her secret email server, but during the election he praised him for his efforts. The New York Times has published multiple articles discussing the topic and has come to the conclusion that Donald Trump actually fired Comey because of his investigation into his administration’s affiliation with Russia and the election.

Why You Should Care:  Many news sources have speculated about the Trump Administration’s affiliation with Russia as well, but if the New York Times is correct, then we have a serious problem on our hands. If Comey was really fired because of his investigation on the president and Russia, then that means our government is becoming increasingly corrupt and our president feels he is above the law.
